The only anime series I have bought completely is Trigun, so that should probably top the list. I love the setting, the humour and the fact that even though the subjects can be a little dark, or noir, it keeps a light tone and makes you come back for another episode.

Chobits. I rewatched that series multiple times, every time I can watch it in a different way, I can find more than one layer to it. The story on top, the philosophical things, the cute outfits Chi wears, the way Hideki grows throughout the episodes.

A more recent one and almost instant favourite is Canaan. Pure brilliance. It's fast, sharp and I like the storyline. It has some comic relief, but not too much to break the seriousness of the plot. Also, the vivid colours and fast action were things that had me hooked from episode one.

Mokke struck a chord with me when I watched it. It's not the standard type of anime I like to watch, but the fact that it touches on mythology and folklore, put into an enjoyable form had me interested. The story itself isn't that deep, but the fact that Japanese folklore is so nicely portrayed was something I liked. Also, it was very calming to watch an episode of this, which sometimes is a plus.

I really like Chobits, the conflicts of morality, and the development of the world around him and himself as he faces this conflict. But then, they tried to throw in this weird spin of, I don't even know what, that was just concluded as quickly as it started. If they just threw that part away, and focused on what the anime (I know the manga was different) was about it could have been much better.

What part do you mean? I'm guessing you are talking about those persocoms at the end, who are hunting Chi? They seemed to be some kind of bad reflex to put in some suspense at the end, which was totally out of place, the anime could have done without.

Angel Beats. Was good in every possible category. Was funny, tragic, action-packed, and slightly romantic.

2nd is To Aru Majutsu No Index. For the same reason as Angel Beats being up there. I just happen to like Angel Beats' Plot/Universe more. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is fucking retarded though. Couldn't stand 2 episodes. I glad they decided for 2nd season for Index 1st instead of Railgun (it's coming though)

Clannad is 3rd. Key makes good plots and presents them well, obvious by how 2 of my top 3 are Key/Jun Maeda productions .

Bakemonogatari is 4th. Some reason I can't describe, it was real good and is up there on my list.

5th is Macross Frontier. IMO, one of the best Mecha anime ever. It hardly beats out Eureka 7 for #5

6th is ... Eureka 7. Only because it's 50 freaking episodes long.

If you haven't watch these, watch them NOW. You won't regret any of it.

If I had to pick just one it would be DBZ since it was the first anime I watched.

just one anime? sorry I got a list of them. Magical shopping arcade Abenobashi, Trigun, Hellsing, Gunslinger girls, Bubblegum crises 2040, Steel angel Kurumi, Cromarti High to just name a few.

Dragonball, dbz, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist and so many others. NOT DB GT! IT SUCKED!

Without a doubt, my favorite anime of all time is, and will always be, FullMetal Alchemist. More specifically, FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood. That will be my favorite, unless of course I can get Square Enix to consider some ideas I have for continuations of both the original and Brotherhood series, because then those would be my favorite FMA series' :P

If I had to choose one anime that was my favorite of all time it would have to be Outlaw Star, which was my gateway anime that got me into actually searching for it instead of just watching ones that were on tv all the time (example DBZ)
